OncoRunners completed the UltraBalaton 2023!

Our incredible colleagues have just accomplished something extraordinary again!

Some of our colleagues have successfully completed the NN Ultrabalaton 2023, an almost 211 km kilometer long running race around lake Balaton on the first weekend of May!

This year was the 17th anniversary of the one-lap race around Lake Balaton, which is also the longest running race in Central Europe. Countless runners from all around Europe came along to run beside the freshwater lake in the middle of Hungary.

Oncotherm’s team of only 6 determined colleagues covered the entire distance in a relay race, meaning they each ran almost 35 km. They completed the whole lap in an outstanding time of only 21 hours and 28 minutes. Not only did the competition demand incredible physical endurance, but it also called for attentive logistical organization. The team members had to be transported to 31 different relay points with the help of only two driver support, ensuring they arrived on time. This was a true proof to the seamless coordination behind the scenes and we want to recognize and applaud them for their outstanding teamwork and collaboration. The coordination and support for one another truly exemplify the spirit of unity and despite the competition’s physically demanding nature, our colleagues approached it with unwavering enthusiasm and cheerfulness.

It’s always inspiring to see our colleagues push themselves to achieve their goals, and we are thrilled to support them in their athletic endeavors. We would like to congratulate to the runners for their remarkable achievement!

Keep up the great work, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

OncoRunners at Telekom Vivicitta 2023

Congratulations to our OncoRunner colleagues who took on the challenge of the 21.0975 km length Telekom Vivicittá – the first half-marathon distance of 2023 in Budapest!

On April 23, which happened to be the first genuine spring weekend of the year, we participated in a relay race while some of our colleagues also ran individually and successfully completed the distance.

We couldn’t be prouder of our colleagues’ exceptional performance and commitment to participating in such remarkable sporting events! Congratulations to them!

In memoriam Prof. Dr. med. Alexander Herzog

We learned with deep sorrow that Professor Herzog had passed away. He was a renowned, respected, excellent doctor, the chief physician of his clinic. His clinical activity and therapies were highly successful, surrounded by the love of patients. The many patients whose lives he extended think of him with great affection. Colleagues often approached him for advice and consultation. His University lectures and presentations at various conferences had high popularity. His death is a significant loss to his loved ones, friends, and the medical community.

Although he is no longer with us, his strong influence on oncology, his humanity, and his ethical strengths is exemplary for all of us, and his teaching lives with us. We do not forget him. Rest in peace.

The 10th KOSG Symposium (Korean Oncologic-hyperthermia Study Group) was held on 3rd December this year, at Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital, on and offline.

It was devoted to providing a forum for experts to discuss their ideas on the use of oncological hyperthermia and present their research and clinical experience.

We are delighted to let you know that the recorded KOSG presentations are available on YouTube!

In memoriam Dr. med. Friedrich Rudolf Douwes

With deep sorrow, we learn that our cooperative partner, colleague, and friend for many of us, Dr. Friedrich Douwes, has passed away.

He was a great doctor with ideas, innovations, and substantial international experience. For him the patient as a person was important. He never treated only the tumour, he considered the tumorous patient as a whole in his approach. He was a pioneer of integrative medicine, successfully treating not only his oncological patients but many comorbidities and other presently less curable diseases, like Lyme disease. His dynamism, intensive, tireless work, and bright intuitions were exemplary for us. We will preserve his memory.

May he rest in peace.
